Loaded gun found on two people at Columbiana Center Mall

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A woman and a teenager are experiencing rates just after police say they brought a loaded gun and showed it to other individuals at the Columbiana Centre Mall in Harbison. 

Columbia Law enforcement say they arrested 40-12 months-aged La’Kenyatta Moore-Rhodes and charged her with pointing and presenting a firearm, unlawful have of a firearm, and contributing to the delinquency of a minimal. A 13-12 months-previous who was with her is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a human being beneath the age of 18, unlawful carry of a firearm, pointing and presenting a firearm.

Officers say just right before 7 p.m. Tuesday, crisis dispatchers obtained a  call that a girl and teenager had been presenting firearms at customers in the shopping mall.

When officers arrived, they say they uncovered the suspects close to the food courtroom and detained them. Officers say they searched the teen and uncovered a loaded 9 mm gun on him. In accordance to investigators, Moore-Rhodes initially had the gun but gave it to the teenager. 

Officers say Moore-Rhodes does not have a hid weapons allow. Guns are also not permitted inside of the mall by the buying center’s posted guidelines. 

The teenager was set in SC Department of Juvenile Justice custody while Rhodes Moore was taken to the Lexington jail. 

The incident arrives around a thirty day period just after a capturing at Columbiana Centre Mall. 

Back on April 16, Columbia police say a few adult men opened hearth within the buying center. A total of 15 individuals were injured: 9 by gunfire, with the other six accidents coming from people scrambling for safety.

Between all those hit by gunfire ended up  a pregnant woman, teenagers, and a 73-yr-previous woman, the state states. The 73-yr-aged experienced “lifetime-altering” injuries in accordance to prosecutors. Prosecutors say surveillance video clip showed men and women ducking to stay clear of remaining hit by gunfire, a father shielding his two little little ones from bullets, and a teenager who ran into the route of the gun struggle to pull her mother to security.  

The three suspects are facing numerous fees, which include attempted murder. They keep on being powering bars after currently being denied bond.
